Derby Public Schools

A quality school system is much more than bricks and mortar.  It's a network of people dedicated to kids. At Derby USD 260, it’s that network of caring staff members, from the school bus to the classroom, which makes it a place where excellence is a way of life.

Traditional and innovative teaching styles, state-of-the-art technology, and special-purpose programs designed to meet the ever-changing needs of today's youth, are part of Derby's commitment to offering an exciting, progressive atmosphere for students, parents, staff members, and the community.

Teachers and students alike enjoy a diversified educational experience in Derby Public Schools.  Although the heart of the school program is basic education for kids in kindergarten through grade 12, district programs serve students from pre-school through adulthood.  High standards, community support, and strong leadership pave the way for constant improvement in and out of the classroom.  Rising assessment scores and consistently above-average ACT scores reflect the district's successful efforts in providing an education that is among the best in the nation.

The 50 square miles of the school district cover the entire city of Derby and beyond into large portions of Sedgwick County.  The Oaklawn/Sunview area, McConnell Air Force Base (MAFB), Towne Parc, Oak Knoll, and Salem Township are all included in the Derby district.  The district operates nine elementary schools, one sixth grade center, one middle school, one high school, and one alternative high school.
