Message from the Chamber President

The Derby Chamber of Commerce has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and its impact on our members and community. Our commitment lies with serving you in any capacity we can during this unprecedented time. We wanted to provide you with an update on how we are responding; this is our plan as of now, but clearly things could change as new information arises.

Chamber Events: It is important that our members remain safe and secure from any potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus - therefore the Chamber has cancelled all of the events for the months of March and April including the After Hours hosted by NovaCare Outpatient Rehabilitation (March 20), Chamber Continentals (March 24 & April 28), Job Fair (March 25), Monday Mingle (April 6), and Chamber Luncheon (April 9). The Steak Feed (April 16) will be postponed to a later date. Any members registered will receive a credit, or a refund if they prefer. We will be closely monitoring the situation and take any necessary precautions regarding future events as needed. Please stay tuned for more information or visit our website for the status of our programs and events.

Chamber Operations: The Derby Chamber of Commerce and Derby Welcome Center will temporarily close at the end of the day today Tuesday, March 17, as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We will monitor the developing situation and make changes as needed. Staff will continue to work normal schedules and be available by phone and email. We want to make sure that we can continue to be a resource to you, so we have also taken the necessary steps so that our team can work remotely, if they need to.

COVID-19 Information & Resources: We have developed an online page with links to different resources to help educate employers and employees on how to prepare for and address the impacts of the COVID-19 virus. It includes information from the CDC, State and the US Chamber. We will update this online toolkit as new guidance and information becomes available. We encourage you to continue to monitor the situation and implement strategies to help protect your customers and employees, with the least possible impact to your operations.

Shop Local: The Chamber is compiling a working list of local Chamber member businesses who are offering modified ways to do business amidst the current COVID-19 restrictions. Please email a Chamber staff member to let us know of any changes you have implemented. Click here to view the current Shop Local list.

In closing, we recognize that you may be feeling the impact of this crisis in an immediate and profound way. We are committed to helping you get through this. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can help.

Check back often for additional resources and updates. Last update on March 17.
